Rounding online activities
This post will share two simple but higher-level rounding activities that will challenge your students and deepen their understanding of rounding numbers (whole number and decimal versions). Rounding Activity #1. The first free rounding activity requires the student to work backwards. Rounding is a skill taught, reinforced, and practiced in almost any elementary classroom. It’s also a life skill that we need our students to master early on. Although we as teachers know how essential it is for our students to grasp this concept, many still struggle with the basics of rounding. Rounding numbers always seems to be a challenge for many of my students each year. We create anchor charts, practice, and play games until they finally start to get it. Today I’m going to talk to you about a few of the activities we did to review rounding. Round Hundreds. Estimate Numbers On Number Line. Round numbers to the nearest hundred. Estimate numbers by locating them on a number line. Round Thousands. Estimate Sums By Rounding. Round numbers to the nearest thousand. Estimate sums by rounding each number to the nearest hundred then adding. In this game, kids need to answer a question by shooting the "bottle" displaying the correct answer. For this, they need to move the cursor over the correct bottle and shoot the bullet at it.
